Project Brief

Ma'aden Wa'ad Al-Shamal Phosphate Company is a strategic company created by Ma'aden and its partners to mine and refine the phosphate ores located in the northern region of Saudi Arabia. Due to the remote location of the mine and refinery, the project's success requires on-site utilities. The domestic wastewater treatment plant is one of the utilities that is required and the treated wastewater effluent will be used for irrigation. The scope of work for this project entailed designing the treatment process, based on Submerged Aerated Fixed Film (SAFF), and the mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and control required for the complete operation of the plant. The project involved close coordination with Ma'aden's appointed utility designer, Jacobs, for the plant's electrical and control design interfaces.
