Project Brief

The private project is located in the northern region of Saudi Arabia. Within the project is a seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant. Due to the proximity of the location to the sea the water source is the sea. Skado Gocsa & Partners Co. Ltd.'s scope was to perform the conceptual and detailed design for the seawater intake system comprising of: 1. the seawater intake towers; 2. the seawater intake pipeline; 3. the seawater intake pumping station; 4. the seawater intake delivery pipeline.

The main challenges faced with this project were the time frame to deliver the detailed drawings and the close coordination required with the client's HVAC, Architectural and Civil engineers to mitigate clashes and construction issues. This was achieved by developing the plant using a spec-driven engineering 3D model and updating it with client's vendor data as soon as it is received to always maintain an up-to-date model.
